The Nigerian Government has reacted to the closure of shops owned by Nigerian traders in Ghana by the Ghanaian authorities.

Last week, a video trended online showing the Ghanaian authorities locking the shops of Nigerians after checking their documents/ certificates for running his business in the country.

It was gathered that the shops were closed for allegedly failing to pay the Ghana Investment Promotion Council (GIPC) registration which is $1 million minimum foreign equity, while the registration fee is 31,500 cedis.

However, in a tweet on his Twitter page on Monday, Geoffery Onyeama, Minister of Foreign Affairs, condemned the actions of the Ghanaian government.

Onyeama said the Nigerian government has watched the painful videos, noting that urgent steps will be taken to address the situation.

”Nigerian Government has watched with dismay the painful videos of the forceful closure of the shops of Nigerian traders in #Ghana. Urgent steps will be taken.”
