Burutai Assures Army Personnel of Improved Living Standard

 

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt General Tukur Buratai has assured the officers and soldiers of Nigerian Army as well as their families of improved living standard in all Nigerian Army barracks across the country. Burutai also assured that the task of improving the welfare of Nigerian Army personnel remained his utmost concern.

General Burutai made this pledge while addressing troops after he inaugurated several water projects
on Wednesday, September 2, 2020
at Abogo Largema Military Cantonment, Biu in Borno State. The Chief of Army Staff also emphasized on his determination to provide befitting living accommodation for officers and soldiers across the barracks.

Burutai however expressed dissatisfaction with the quality of work done so far on the renovation works within the barrack. He therefore promised to direct Nigerian Army Engineering Corps to take charge of the work any time soon and embark on proper renovation of the cantonment.

“We will try to see how we can improve on your barrack accommodation, but it seems there is still much work to be done. We will still build more”, said Burutai.

Meanwhile, Buritai has also commended the commanding officers of 331 Artillery Battalion Lieutenant Colonel AY Ardo and 231 Tank Battalion Lieutenant Colonel ME Obi for their efforts that had resolved the perennial water challenge that had confronted the barrack over time.

“I want to thank the Commanding Officers for their resourcefulness towards solving the perennial water problems in this cantonment.

“This initiative is highly commendable because it is one of the cardinal principles in my vision which is -To have a professionally responsive Nigerian Army in the discharge of its constitutional roles.

“The Commanding Officers have shown responsiveness in the provision of water to meet the need of the soldiers and their families by giving them access to portable water for their consumption and domestic use.

“I want to also urge the Commanding Officers to be judicious in the use of the resources at their disposal, no matter how small,’’ added Burutai.

Moreso, General Burutai has yet commended the troops for their efforts in stabilising the security of their Area of Responsibility. He nonetheless urged them to continue to ensure that there was no security threats in the area.

“While you ensure you train, you must also continue to attend to the security threats that may arise from time to time.

“As such, I want you to remain steadfast, loyal and committed to the country, and obey your superiors and surely we will move Nigerian Army forward and achieve our mandate of defending our country from any external aggression as well as safeguarding its territorial integrity,” Burutai admonished.
