Rep Adefisoye Condemns Political Killings In Idanre

Member representing Idanre/Ifedore Federal Constituency, Hon. Tajudeen Adefisoye has condemned in the strongest term the recent politically motivated killings in Idanre.

He described Idanre as a town that is known for security, peace and peaceful coexistence amongst the people. He however averred that the culture of political tolerance and peaceful coexistence should not be allowed to get eroded in Idanre.

Adefisoye expressed this concern in statement issued by his Senior Legislative Aide, Richard Adeyemi and released to the media on Thursday. He further advised that no sacrifice could be too much to make in the interest of peace and unity.

The statement read in parts, “It will be noted that SDP withdrew from the recently conducted local government election in a bid to avert further political violence in Idanre. This was indeed a sacrifice because nothing can ever be too much to let go in the interest of peace and unity”.

Moreso, Adefisoye has called on leaders in Idanre to take steps that will curtail further violence in the town. Also, he has appealed to political gladiators in Idanre to shun the politics of ‘do or die’.

“It is indeed very pertinent for now that the traditional rulers, community leaders, religious leaders, political leaders as well business leaders within Idanre should sue for peace and also take decisive steps that will help to avert further violence in the town.

“Adefisoye avers that ‘do or die’ brand of politics should be discouraged in Idanre town while the sanctity of human lives should likewise be respected”.

Meanwhile, Adefisoye has yet pleaded with Arakunrin Akeredolu and security agencies to curtail the wave of political violence in Idanre and bring the perpetrators to justice.

“Adefisoye however appealed to Governor Rotimi Akeredolu and the security agencies to ensure that security of lives and properties are guaranteed in Idanre; while those behind the recent killings are speedily brought to justice”, the statement added.
