The police have launched a manhunt for the abductors of students of the Enugu State College of Health Technology in Oji River Local Government Area. It was gathered that the armed men suspected to be herdsmen invaded the college and abducted five students as they were leaving the school premises. A video circulating on social media on Saturday shows an injured man covered in blood in the aftermath of the attack. A mobile police officer who was abducted around Kampani community in Bashar District of Wase local government are of Plateau State has been found d@ad. Recall that the policeman and a soldier who were part of a security team fighting bandits terrorising a community which shares border with Taraba State, were ambushed around Kampani community last Wednesday. While the soldier escaped, the policeman was not so lucky. A magistrates’ court in Makurdi, Benue State capital, on Monday remanded a farmer, Awase Benjamin, for allegedly destroying government property and illegal possession of a firearm. The magistrate, Kelvin Mbanongun, did not take Mr Benjamin’s plea for want in the jurisdiction to hear the matter. Mr Mbanongun ordered that Mr Benjamin be remanded in the Makurdi Correctional Centre, pending the conclusion of the investigation. The magistrate adjourned the case until October 8 for further mention. The police in Lagos on Monday arraigned two estate agents, Lukman Akande and Justice Odion, before the Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court for alleged N1.5 million fraud. The defendants- Akande, 43, and Odion, 34, whose addresses were not provided, are standing trial on a two-count charge of fraud and breach of the peace. The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress in Oyo State, Isaac Omodewu, has died in the United States of America. PUNCH Online had exclusively reported that Omodewu left Nigeria in November 2023 for a medical trip. He, however, succumbed to death after close to a year, receiving treatment for an undisclosed ailment in the USA, where he was a citizen.
