Policemen on Saturday in Abuja fired live bullets at a vehicle conveying journalists and hunger protesters. There are nationwide protests against hardship worsened by some policies of President Bola Tinubu. The protest started on August 1 but organisers said it would continue until August 10. The shooting at the Abuja National Stadium where protesters converged ignited panic as journalists and protesters scampered for safety. The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in Kano State has apprehended 15 suspected looters in different parts of the state. The Corps Commandant, Mohammad Falala, disclosed this during a telephone interview on Friday. He said that the suspects were caught with stolen items from the Digital Industrial Park, Nigerian Communication Commission and other locations during the hunger protest.
