A staff of the Kano State Hisbah Board, Idris Ahmed Gama, has been arrested for condemning the arrest of some members of a Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer organisation. The management of Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, says it has expelled 175 students for various offences. This was announced in a statement issued by KWASU’s spokeswoman, Saeedat Aliyu, on Tuesday. The university management said that the expulsion approval followed the recommendations of the Students’ Disciplinary Committee, which held sittings between October 2021 and March 2024. The vice-chancellor of Federal University Dutsinma (FUDMA) in Katsina, Armaya’u Bichi, has alleged that some of the university’s staff serve as informants to the bandits.
