The Theatre Commander, North East “Operation Hadin Kai”, Maj-Gen. Christopher Musa, has said that more than 79,000 insurgents comprising combatants and non-combatants have so far surrendered. Musa made this known in Maiduguri, Borno State capital while briefing newsmen on recent successes of the command. The commander said that the sustained onslaught on the insurgents under the kinetic and non-kinetic approaches had led to the mass surrender. The police command in Lagos State on Sunday said 35 suspected armed robbers were arrested between June and August in the state. The command’s spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, said 13 other suspected armed robbers were killed in different parts of the state during encounters with the police within the period. He said while 37 robberies were foiled in different parts of the state, 32 firearms and 78 ammunition abandoned in vehicles by suspects were recovered during the same period. The Kaduna State Government says Troops of Nigerian Army have gunned down several bandits at Tollgate general area of Chikun Local Government in the state. The Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Mr Samuel Aruwan, confirmed the development in a statement on Saturday in Kaduna.
