The Federal Government has announced the suspension of duties, tariffs, and taxes on some essential food items imported through land and sea borders. The Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) Delta has uncovered two illegal refining sites with 45,000 litres of products suspected to be stolen crude oil in the Warri South Local Government Area of Delta. Police arrest 118 suspected cultists, 60 others for kidnapping. The police command in Plateau has arrested 178 suspects over cultist activities, kidnapping, trafficking and unlawful possession of firearms. The state commissioner of police, Emmanuel Adesina, disclosed this at a news conference on Monday in Jos, the state capital. The police in Lagos on Monday arraigned a 57-year-old man, Odion Matthew, before a chief magistrates’ court in Badagry over alleged fraud. The defendant, whose address is unknown, is standing trial on a two-count charge of fraud and stealing. The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges. The prosecutor, ASP Clement Okuoimose, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on December 12, 2022, at the Carwash Bus Stop on the Badagry Motorway, Lagos. The police command in Jigawa on Monday confirmed that two persons lost their lives, while 18 others were rescued in a boat mishap that occurred in the state. DSP Lawan Shiisu, the command’s spokesman, confirmed this in a statement in Dutse on Monday.
