The challenges facing local airline operators worsened yesterday as aviation fuel price surged above N800 per litre. In Lagos a litre went for  N822;  Abuja, N859; Port Harcourt, Rivers State N852; Yola, Adamawa State, N890 and Maiduguri, Borno State N892. The product sold for between  N580 and N600 per litre last month. An industry player hinted that the development might result in higher cost of tickets; delayed flights or outright cancellations. The Association of Nigeria Aviation Professionals, ANAP, has threatened to shut down the 32 airports across the country in solidarity with the strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) next week Tuesday. Aero Contractors on Monday said it would suspend passengers’ flights operations indefinitely from Wednesday, July 20. The Oyo State House of Assembly, on Monday, has finally impeached the state’s deputy governor, Rauf Olaniyan, over allegations of gross misconduct and financial impropriety, while in office.
