Boboye Oyeyemi, corps marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), says the corps will enforce the ban on SPY number plates by the police. Usman Baba, inspector-general of police (IGP), gave the order on Wednesday. In a statement, Bisi Kazeem, corps public education officer, quoted Oyeyemi as commending the IGP and describing his order as a “bold step”. Four persons including a commercial driver have died in an accident which occured along Olok zzuta/shasha Road, in Akure, Ondo state on Wednesday morning. Eyewitnesses said the accident occured when a Sienna bus, coming from Ondo axis had a head on collision with an Ore bound hummer bus. The four victims were said to have died instantly. It took the intervention of motorists and residents around the area to rescue other passengers who were trapped in the vehicles. Analysis of the COVID-19 cases obtained from the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control has revealed a sharp rise of 324 per cent in the number of COVID-19 cases reported in the country within one month. No fewer than 568 cases were reported in the country between May 12, 2022 and June 12, 2022. However, between June 13, 2022 and July 12, 2022, no fewer than 2,407 cases were reported leading to a sharp rise of 323.76 per cent in the number of positive cases. The Appeal Court sitting in Port Harcourt has ordered leading entertainment company, MultiChoice, to sub-license some channels to Metro-digital, pursuant to the Nigerian Broadcasting Commission’s code. Justice Olabode Adegbehingbe in his judgment on Wednesday ruled that the lower court erred when it dismissed the suit of the Appellant (Metro-digital), when the appellant proved the existence of the dispute between itself and the first respondent (MultiChoice).
