According to the university in a statement on Tuesday, the certificate has been invalidated because it has the incorrect spelling of the bearer’s name. A joint patrol team of the Federal Operations Unit (FOU), Zone A of the Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, and soldiers intercepted a boat carrying smuggled rice and vehicles in Badagry, Lagos State. The incident happened, on Sunday, at about 3am. As they evacuated the seized goods, a group of smugglers led by an individual armed with charms and a matchet attacked the team. Two personnel, a Customs officer and a soldier, were injured in the face and leg respectively. In self-defense, the personnel injured the leader of the gang, who later died en route to the hospital.
Three people narrowly escaped death on Monday in a road accident involving two vehicles at the Magboro end of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
