The Federal High Court in Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State, has officially struck out the defamation charge filed against Lagos-based lawyer and author, Mr. Dele Farotimi, following an application by the police to withdraw the case. Justice Babs Kuewumi made the decision after the police prosecutor, Samson Osobu, informed the court that a notice of discontinuance had been filed. Osobu explained that the notice, dated January 29, 2025, had been submitted that morning, and that the prosecution no longer wished to proceed with the case. The police command in Ogun State said it killed five suspected kidnappers in a gun duel on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway. The command’s spokesperson, CSP Omolola Odutola, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday in Abeokuta. According to Ms Odutola, the Sagamu Area Commander received a distress call on Saturday, at 7:00p.m, from commuters travelling on the Sagamu-Ijebu Ode expressway, of an ongoing armed robbery near Ilishan. A Federal Capital Territory High Court on Wednesday adjourned hearing in the alleged money laundering case against a former governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello until April 3 and April 24. Justice Maryann Anenih adjourned the case for continuation of hearing after the first witness, Fabian Nworah, a property developer, was called to testify.
