Tension gripped residents of Okitipupa ,the headquarters of Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State, following arrest of no fewer than 45 youths from the Northern part of the country by men of the Ondo State Security Network, the Amotekun. Nigerian Army has changed the operational name of the North East counterinsurgency operation from Operation Lafiya Dole (OPLD) to Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK). Approval for this renaming was given by the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Ibrahim Attahiru on Thursday, April 30, 2021. Residents of the Okitipupa council area of Ondo state have raised the alarm over the influx of Fulani men in the community. Over 45 group of Northerners were reportedly sighted in the community by the residents. Independent National Electoral Commission Chairman Prof. Mahmood Yakubu has lamented the non-passage of the Electoral Act (amendment) Bill, by the National Assembly less than two years to the 2023 elections. Yakubu said the commission is not yet clear or certain about the legal framework that would undergird the 2023 elections less than two years to the conduct of the poll.
