A British court has granted the Nigerian government more time to appeal against the $9.6bn arbitral award delivered in favour of a British Virgin Island, Process, and Industrial Development. According to Reuters, the ruling was delivered by the British court on Friday. Dr Olufemi Adeogun, Chief Medical Director of Idoani in Ondo State, who was abducted on Monday, has regained his freedom. Adeogun was freed yesterday night alongside other abducted victims following a manhunt on the kidnappers. The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, yesterday, said, it has obtained a prepayment funding of circa US$1b to support the upstream operations of its subsidiary, Nigerian Petroleum Development Company, NPDC. In a statement in Abuja, Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division of the NNPC, Dr. Kennie Obateru, explained that the crude oil prepayment had enabled NNPC to pay NPDC’s tax obligations to the Federal Government of Nigeria, of circa $700 million with the balance utilised to fund NPDC’s capital and operating expenditures. The Ondo State Security Outfit, also known as Amotekun, has arrested three persons suspected to be members of a kidnap gang terrorising the state.
