The Lagos State Government, on Wednesday, announced the reduction of the Land Use Charge (LUC) to the pre-2018 charges, hence, indicating a reduction of 48 per cent. The Commissioner for Finance, Dr Rabiu Olowo, made this known at a news briefing on the 2020 New Land Use Charge Law in Alausa, Ikeja. Two secondary schools in Ondo State have been closed by the state government for violating COVID-19 protocols as schools resumed across the state. The two schools sealed are: CAC Grammar School, Ondo Road, Akure and Akure Academy, Oba-Ile. Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Mr Akin Asaniyan, said that the schools were closed for not complying with all the COVID-19 protocols. The Nigerian Army says that purported soldiers allegedly arrested for bullion van robbery in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, are not its personnel. Lebanese authorities have said at least 78 people have been killed and some 4,000 wounded in a massive explosion at the port in the capital, Beirut. The explosion on Tuesday sent shockwaves across the city, causing widespread damage even on the outskirts of the capital. The cause of the explosion was not immediately clear.
