The crisis between striking Nigerian university lecturers and the Federal Government has worsened, The PUNCH learnt. Members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities told our correspondent accused the Federal Government of “sabotaging efforts to ensure standard education for Nigerian youths”. A Federal High Court in Abuja on Thursday dismissed a suit seeking disqualification of the All Progressives Congress, APC, and Governor Gboyega Oyetola from the Osun State Governorship election slated for Saturday. Justice Inyang Eden Ekwo dismissed the suit on six grounds that the plaintiff, a Chieftain of APC, Moshood Olalekan Adeoti, failed woefully to disclose any cause of action. A 28-year-old Kuje Correctional Center escapee, Yakubu AbdulMumuni, has been arrested by men of Ogun State Police Command. The suspect was arrested in Sango-Ota, in the Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of the State. The Chairman, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Mahmood Yakubu said out of 1,955,657 registered voters in Osun State, 1,479,595 Permanent Voters’ Cards have been collected as of Sunday.
