Pastor Famakinwa Ajayi of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Ayede Ogbese, in Akure North council area of the state has been jailed by an Ondo State High Court for defiling and impregnating a 16-year-old girl.
The 61-year-old pastor who is affiliated with the Christian Association of Nigeria in Ayede Ogbese, Akure North council was sentenced to 18 years imprisonment after he was charged to court on a two-count charge of unlawful sexual intercourse with a child, contrary to Section 31(1)of the Child’s Rights Law of Ondo State and sexual abuse and exploitation contrary to Section 32 (1).
Pastor Famakinwa was said to have carried out the act on the pretense of healing the victim of the demonic spirit tormenting her.
Presiding Judge, Justice Yemi Fasanmi, sentenced Famakinwa after he found him guilty of rape and defilement of his tenant’s daughter. The convict was first arraigned on February 2022 on two counts of rape and defilement along with sexual abuse and exploitation.
The Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions for the Ondo State Ministry of Justice, Mrs Helen Falowo, filed the lawsuit with case number AK/195C/2021 on behalf of the Ondo State Government. He pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Meanwhile, upon being briefed of the incident by the Ayede Ogbese Women Vanguard of the town, a renowned women/human’s rights, and wife of the monarch, Olori Olufunmilayo Nejo-Oluyede, took in the victim, sent her back to school and agreed to sponsor her education forthwith Olori Olufunmilayo Nejo-Oluyede.
