The Jigawa State government has begun the collection of samples of over 600 Almajiris who returned from Kano State recently.

According to the government, the collected samples are to be tested for coronavirus (COVID-19) at a private laboratory accredited by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).

Following their arrival in Jigawa, the children were isolated at the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) camp in Kiyawa Local Government Area of the state.

The results of the test are expected in two days.

Meanwhile, the government said 69 other Almajiris also repatriated from Gombe, who arrived in Jigawa later than those from Kano, would also be tested after 10 days of being in isolation.
