The Ondo State Security Network Agency, aka Amotekun Corps, has arrested 42 cows for destroying farmlands in the  Alagbaka extension area in Akure, the Ondo State capital.

The state Commander, Amotekun Corps, Chief Adetunji Adeleye, stated this while speaking with journalists at the scene of the incident.

Adeleye explained that the cows were seized after a series of complaints by owners of the farmlands.

According to him, over eight different farmlands with crops such as maize and cassava were completely destroyed by the cows belonging to some Fulani herdsmen.

It was gathered that the herders, who were armed, had chased away the farmers. The affected farmers later contacted the Amotekun Corps.

He said, “When the joint security network including Agro-Rangers of the NSCDC got to the scene, the herders again attempted to attack the farmers, but they were overpowered by security officials, leading to the seizure of the cows while the herders took to their heels.”
