Nigerian Army Lost An Officer In Boko Haram Clearance Operation
Nigerian Army troops of Operation Lafiya Dole on Monday, September 21, 2020 lost one of its gallant and finest war heroes, Colonel D.C Bako due to injuries sustained while
leading a patrol to clear Boko Haram terrorists from Sabon Gari-Wajiroko axis, near Damboa in Borno State.
According to a statement issued on Monday by the spokesman of Operation Lafiya Dole, Colonel Ado Isa, the patrol team sadly ran into an ambush at about 10:am on Sunday September 20, 2020.
Meanwhile, the troops led by the patriotic and gallant Colonel Bako were able to clear the ambush and it resulted in the killing of scores of terrorists as well as the recovery of weapons and equipment. However, Colonel Bako sadly got wounded in action and was immediately evacuated by the Air Task Force Operation Lafiya Dole to the 7 Division Hospital at Maimalari Cantonment in Borno State.
It was also added that late senior officer was fast recuperating at the hospital after a successful operation. It was further stated that Bako was already in good spirit and had even said his prayers in the early hours of Monday before he passed away at the hospital.
Moreso, the Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai has on behalf of himself, the gallant troops of Operation Lafiya Dole and all well meaning Nigerians expresses his heartfelt condolences to the family of the late Colonel Bako.
“We are most grateful for his contributions and sacrifices to the motherland. May God grant eternal rest to the gentle soul of Colonel D.C Bako and the souls of all Nigerian Army officers and soldiers that have paid the supreme prize in the defence of our father land”, Burutai consoled.
