As the festive season begins, the governor of Ondo state, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has called for an increased advocacy amongst road users and major stakeholders to further reduce the rate of accidents on Nigerian roads.

The governor, who was represented by his deputy, Olayide Adelami, made the call while receiving the Corps Marshall of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Shehu Mohammed in his office in Akure, on Monday.

The Corps Marshall and his delegation were in Ondo State to create more awareness on safe driving during the yuletide.

The governor assured the corps of his administration’s support and partnership to ensure every road across the state is safe for motorists during and after the festive season, saying the peaceful atmosphere being enjoyed in the state must be sustained.

He thanked the corps for their relentless efforts at ensuring that Nigerian roads are safe for every user.

Earlier in his opening remarks, the FRSC Corp Marshall, Sheu Mohammed, lauded the Ondo state government for his unrelenting support for the corps.

Mohammed said his men would continue to do their best to reduce fatalities on the highway and continually enlighten the public on the need to be careful on the road during the christmas and the new year celebrations.

He called on all stakeholders in the road management project to join hands with government to continue to instill discipline on road users.
