The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control on Saturday resumed giving updates of COVID-19 in the country. It said it initially stopped media activities including COVID-19 updates to honour the dead victims of the #EndSARS protests.

The organisation, however, said it had continued testing and daily reporting of the COVID-19 situation on its microsite.

The NCDC spokesperson, Emeka Oguanuo, said this in a text message following enquires by our correspondent.

The statement reads, “Dear Nigerians, we recently paused our social media activities as a sign of respect to lives lost and affected following the recent violence in parts of Nigeria.

“However, we continued testing and daily reporting of the COVID-19 situation on the NCDC microsite.”
