#EndSARS: Lagos Govt urged to compensate all victims’ families
A call has gone to the Lagos State Government to adequately compensate families of people killed or injured during the recent #EndSARS protests, while business owners who incurred losses should also be assisted by the government.
The call was made on Friday in Lagos by the Chairman of the Cherubim & Seraphim Unification Church of Nigeria, Lagos State Chapter, Snr. Supt. Apostle Joseph Adagba, while delivering the sermon at the Christmas Outreach 2020 with the theme, ‘Peace Be Still’, organised in collaboration with the Lagos State Public Service Christian Fellowship and the Chapel of Christ the Light, Alausa,Lagos.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu received praises from the clergy for fulfilling his pledge to compensate the families of policemen killed during the protests.
Adagba commended the state civil service for providing support for the state government in carrying out its programmes for the development of the state.
He said: “When the news of the N60 million compensation to the families of the six policemen killed during the protests hit the airwaves, we commended the governor for fulfilling his promise. The governor has shown that he is truly a man of his words”.
“We are now appealing to him to do same for families of those who genuinely died in the course of the protests. This should also extend to genuine business owners who suffered various losses during the period.”
The cleric urged residents of the state to continue living in peace with one another, while urging the governor to remain focused in his lofty programmes for the people of the state.
He urged youths to always seek dialogue with constituted authorities, while attempting to ventilate their grievances.
