Troops Kill 8 Boko Haram, Recover Ammunition in 2 North East States

Troops of Tura Takaibango, which is a subsidiary of Operation Lafiya Dole have killed 8 fighters of Boko Haram and Islamic State’s West Africa Province right in their enclaves at Chindila town in Yobe State and Mayankari in Borno state respectively on January 25, 2021.

It was reported that at about 1:00pm on January 25, 2021, the gallant troops of 233 Bn located at Babangida while on aggressive clearance patrol made contact with Boko Haram elements at Chindila village.

According to a statement by the Acting Director of Defence Media Operations, Brigadier General Bernard Onyeuko on January 26, 2021, the troops engaged the terrorists with fierce volume of fire and killed 5 of them in the process, while some escaped with gunshots wounds.

Troops also recovered from the terrorists items that include 3 x AK 47 rifles, quantity 5 x magazines and 17 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition. Moreso, it was gathered that the gallant troops were still in pursuit of the terror elements, while they have also continued to dominate the general area.

Similarly, troops of 151 Bn, 202 Bn and elements of Multinational Joint Task Force while on fighting patrol made contact with some Boko Haram elements at Mayankari on January 25, 2021 at about 4:00pm. The troops swiftly and aggressively engaged the terrorists with their superior firepower and promptly killed 3 Boko Haram criminals, while others escaped with fatal gunshot wounds.

Items recovered from the terrorists
include 3 AK 47 rifles, 1 solar panel and 1 improvised explosive device making equipment. After the fierce encounter, hideouts of the terrorists were thereafter destroyed by the troops while they continue with the exploitation of the general area in search other terrorists that escaped the scene with bullet wounds.

Meanwhile, the gallant troops of Operation Tura Takaibongo have continued to launch attacks on main hideouts of Boko Haram and ISWAP where they plot and carry out evil acts against their civilian targets. This according to the report also indicate the capitulation of terrorists and the end of all terror elements in the North East.

Moreso, the troops of Tura Takaibongo have been commended for their dedication and dexterity in flushing out the remnants of terrorists from their hideouts. The gallant troops have also been encouraged to sustain the success so far recorded.

However, the Military High Command has also assured the North East populace of the renewed vigour and zeal of Nigerian Army to completely crush the remnants of Boko Haram and ISWAP criminals in the zone.
