BREAKING: Akeredolu suspends activities of NURTW in Ondo Indefinitely
Governor of Ondo state, Rotimi Akeredolu has suspended the activities of the National union of Road Transport Workers in the state indefinitely.
This was announced via a statement to journalists by the deputy governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa. The state government also ordered members of the union to vacate Motor parks in the state immediately.
This development is coming shortly after NURTW members clashed early on Tuesday. it was gathered that trouble started after some members of the union reportedly loyal to the NURTW Chairman, Adebo Jacob a.k.a ‘Idajo’ attacked a rival group.
This led to several clashes at Old garage and other motor parks in the state. A member of the rival group identified as Shina Ademola Ademoyegun was shot dead, while one Adeyemi Samuel Ojuyobo and Akinyemi Bayo sustained injuries.
Aiyedatiwa disclosed that an investigation will be conducted and all the perpetrators of the crisis will be brought to book.
