The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila; and the minority caucus on Saturday paid glowing tributes to Nigerian workers on this year’s Workers’ Day.

Gbajabiamila, in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Lanre Lasisi, said Nigerian workers are worthy of being celebrated, stressing that the Nigerian system remains stable due to the dedication and sacrifices of the workers.

The Speaker, in the statement titled ‘Workers’ Day: Gbajabiamila pays tributes to Nigerian workers,’ said the welfare of workers would remain paramount on the government’s table.

Gbajabiamila said he was particularly elated by the resilience of Nigerian workers, whom he described as the bedrock of the society.

He noted that the 9th House remained committed to improving the working conditions of workers through legislative interventions.

The Speaker called on workers to continue to give their best to the country, even as government must keep its side of the bargain to the workers.

In a separate statement titled ‘Workers’ Day: Reps Minority Caucus Congratulates Nigerian Workers,’ the opposition lawmakers in the House congratulated Nigerian workers as they join their compatriots in other parts of the world to celebrate this year’s Workers’ Day.

The minority caucus, in a statement issued by the Minority Leader of the House, Hon. Ndudi Elumelu, commended the workers for their sacrifices in moving the nation forward despite the challenges they face.

Elumelu said, “As the representatives of the people, our caucus recognises and appreciates the sacrifices and commitment of our workers at all levels, in moving our dear nation forward despite the challenges they face under the current APC administration.”

“Our caucus notes that workers in both the public and private sectors are critical drivers of our economic and social lives and as such must be given the adequate incentives and tools to effectively perform their duties.”

The caucus said it would continue to give legislative backing to all efforts directed towards improving the welfare and productivity of the workers.

The lawmakers congratulated the Nigerian workers and wished them a successful celebration.
