Group rally supports for APC in Ekiti, tasks youths on INEC’s CVR
A leading youth advocacy group in Nigeria, the Pentagon Movement Group (PMG) has urged youths in Ekiti state to participate in the ongoing Continuous Voters Registration (CVR) by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for them to participate in the 2022 and 2023 elections in the state.
The state coordinator of PMG, Ade-Ademola Ilesanmi who spoke on Thursday at the state secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) after a rally by the youths in the state said there was need for the young population to leave the social media and participate actively in politics in their respective communities.
The rally tagged , ‘Ekiti continuity Agenda’ was held to launch the group in the state and drum support for the success of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in next year’s governorship election in the state.
The peaceful procession attended by the national coordinator of PMG and son of the Ondo state governor, Babajide Akeredolu kicked off from the popular Fajuyi park down to Ojumose, Okeiyinmi, Ijigbo, Ajilosun areas of the state capital before it was rounded off at the APC state secretariat.
As part of activities marking the event, free fuel were offered to 500 motorcyclist at three different filling stations in the state capital while no fewer 500 aged and vulnerable children received free food parks from the group.
Ilesanmi noted that the group was launched in the state to give youth voice , strength and ensure “they take their rightful place in the politics of Ekiti state.”
He explained that the youths have a great role to play in the entrenchment of democracy in the country, adding that the youthful population when deployed rightly can influence the outcome of the 2022 governorship poll in the state.
Ilesanmi added that the achievements of the Dr Kayode Fayemi-led administration would be properly sustained if the ruling APC retained power after the election next year.
According to him, ” We are launching this group which has been successful in Ondo State today in Ekiti to give voice and strength to our youths. We want to take our rightful place in decision making and we can only achieve this when we participate actively.
” INEC has commenced voters registration and I want us to go out there and register to have our PVCs and make the difference come 2022 and the 2023 general election. We need to move out from the social media and be on ground.
” PMG has seen the successes of the present administration in the state and we are rooting for the continuity of APC for these things to be sustained and protected.”
The coordinator revealed that the group would soon role out empowerment programmes for youths, women and the vulnerable in the state.
Receiving the youths, the state APC chairman, Mr Paul Omotosho commended the leadership of group for the rally, saying youths occupied a very important place in any democracy.
Omotosho who advised them to register as a voter in the ongoing exercise by INEC added that the rally would boost the support base and development of the party in the state.
