How Adetutu, PoS lady was killed – Robbery kingpin

Banji Adu, leader of a four-man robbery gang that had been terrorizing Akure and its environs yesterday narrated how he and his accomplices killed late Adetutu, an operator of a Point of Sales lady in the state capital.

The 24-year-old kingpin made the revelation to newsmen on Thursday when he and other 11 suspects were paraded by the Ondo State Commissioner of Police, Bolaji Salami at the Police Headquarters along Igbatoro road, Akure.

Adu said, “When my gang members and I got to the PoS shop of late Miss Adetutu, she refused to give us money on time and I put the trigger on her and I killed her and we made away with her money.

” We went round to other places like Obioma restaurant and robbed her of N150,000. And we also proceeded to Rano filling Station and robbed them of their money.

On how they were nabbed, the suspect said they were arrested through CCTV Camera that was placed in one of the places they had robbed

“We never knew there was camera installed. As we left the place, we got to a PoS operative who did not give us money on time.

I was the one that pulled the trigger on her and collected the cash on her,” he confessed.

While parading the 12 suspects arrested for various offences ranging from murder, armed robbery, rape, shop breaking and vandalization of government property, the Police boss, Mr. Bolaji Salami told newsmen that the suspects were nabbed in various locations across the state.

He said two suspects: Olanrewaju and Igbekele Ajenode with others still at large who allegedly ganged raped a lady was arrested by the police detective who acted on information.

He explained that police is trailing other members of the gang and that they will soon meet their waterloo.

CP Salami stated further that detectives from Ore Divisional also arrested a serial rapist simply identified as Stephen John for allegedly dragging a lady inside the bush and raped her.

He said the unfortunate incident happened at about 8.30pm when the victim (nameswithheld) was sent on an errand by her parents at Tajudeen street in Ore, in Odigbo local government area of the state.

Also paraded were Isreal Ramnap, 21 , Partem Small, 24, and Destiny Emmanuel, 25, who were alleged to have broken into a shop in Alagbaka, Akure and reportedly made away with the sum of N522, 600.

He told journalists that upon investigation, the stolen items were recovered as exhibits while the suspects have confessed to the crime.

A 40-year old man, identified as Frederick Samuel who was alleged of vandalizing government property was also apprehended.

The suspect was said to have vandalized electrical /tension wires along Oja Bale camp via Ondo town and upon interrogation he confessed to have engaged in such act over four times before nemesis caught with him.

Salami told reporters that Deji Ajayi,, 22. Babajide Adewole, 22, Dare Adeoye, 24 and Banjo Adu, 27, who allegedly robbed a restaurant at NEPA area in Akure were nabbed.

The suspects robbed the victim of the sum of N1, 200million and also carted away mobile phones from the customers who were eating at the restaurant.

According to Salami, the all the suspects paraded would soon be charged to court immediately the police conclude their investigation just as he warned criminals to steer clear off the state or be ready to face the full weight of the law.
