JUST IN: Ronaldo joins Manchester City

Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo has joined Manchester City in a two-year deal from Juventus, authoritative sports journalist Fabrizio Romano has declared on Thursday.

“Cristiano Ronaldo to Manchester City, HERE WE GO! Paperworks signed tonight between Juventus and City. €25m final fee, contract also signed until June 2023,” Romano said in a tweet. “Cristiano will undergo his medical in Manchester on Friday morning in order to complete the deal.”

Ronaldo’s move to the English Premier League comes a few days after Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri dismissed report of his possible move as gossips, asserting that the talisman would remain with the Old Ladies.

The return of Ronaldo, a five-time Ballon d’Or winner, to EPL will worsen the rivalry between the two Manchester clubs.

The former Manchester United returns to England in a move that is sure to draw flak from the Red Devils fans who would be disenchanted that he is joining their city rivals.

Ronaldo enjoyed great success during his six years stay at United under legendary manager, Sir Alex Ferguson, winning his first Ballon d’Or before leaving for Spanish giant Real Madrid in 2009.

Ronaldo, 36, will be 38 by the end of his new contract with City in 2023.
