Police arrest father for hiring thugs to ‘teach daughter’s teacher lesson’
“On interrogation, Oluwaseun confirmed hiring the other two men to the school to teach the teacher who beat his daughter a lesson of his life.”
The Police Command in Ogun has arrested a 35-year-old father, Abidemi Oluwaseun, for invading a public school with thugs to attack a teacher for flogging her 15-year-old daughter.
The police spokesperson in Ogun, Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed this in a statement issued on Tuesday in Ota, Ogun, that the suspect was arrested with two other persons.
The other suspects are Fayesele Olabanji, 24, and Alebiosu Quawiyy, 25.
The suspects were arrested following a distress call received from the principal of Baptist Girls College, Idiaba Abeokuta, that three men invaded the school with an unregistered vehicle,” said the police.
Mr Oyeyemi added that they were armed with brand new cutlass and threatening to hack down the teacher.
“Upon the distress call, the Divisional Police Officer, Kemta Division, CSP Opebiyi Sunday, mobilised his men and moved to the scene where the three men were apprehended right inside the school premises. The unregistered Toyota car and the cutlass were recovered from them,” said the police statement. “On interrogation, Oluwaseun confirmed hiring the other two men to the school to teach the teacher who beat his daughter a lesson of his life.”
The spokesman further stated that preliminary investigation revealed that while the victim was teaching, some students, including the suspect’s daughter, were mocking the teacher and distracting other students.
After identifying those disturbing the class, the police said the teacher flogged them as a corrective measure.
But the suspect’s daughter went home and reported to her father, who later stormed the school with “two thugs armed with a cutlass.
Meanwhile, police commissioner Lanre Bankole has ordered that the suspects be properly investigated and charged to court as soon as possible.
