OVER 300 royal fathers from South West are said to be backing the bid by the ex-governor of Lagos State, Senator Bola Tinubu, for the presidency in 2023.

This was disclosed in Gbongan, Osun state, on Tuesday by Senator Dayo Adeyeye, the National Chairman of South West Agenda for Asiwaju for 2023, a group seeking support for Tinubu ahead of next presidential poll, during the launch of the group at Irewole Federal Constituency.

Adeyeye, who called on the residents to support the push by the group to rally support for Tinubu, listed the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi and Alake of Egba, Oba Adedotun Aremu, as some of the royal fathers that had already backed Tinubu for the presidential project.

He said, “You are representatives of SWAGA and you must continue to advocate Tinubu for the presidential project. By the grace of God, Tinubu will emerge the next Nigeria’s president in 2023.

“All the traditional rulers in Yorubaland are supporting Tinubu, over 300 of them are backing him. From Ooni of Ife to Alaafin of Oyo, Alake and others. He is the best candidate that will come out of Yorubaland.”

Speaking earlier, the Osun State SWAGA coordinator, Ayo Omidiran, said apart from canvassing support for Tinubu ahead of the next presidential election, the group was also rallying support for Governor Adegboyega Oyetola, ahead of the 2022 governorship poll.
