Flood sweeps away playing Ondo pupil, police launch search

A pupil of Mount Carmel Girls School, Ikare Akoko, the headquarters of the Ikare Akoko Local Government Area of Ondo State, Motunrayo John, has been swept away by flood.

The flood was said to have been caused by a downpour in the community.

PUNCH Metro gathered that the incident happened on Tuesday in the Semusemu area of the town.

A source in the community stated that the Junior Secondary School 3 pupil was playing in the erosion-ravaged area when she put her legs inside the water and slipped, as the flood swept her away.

The source said, “The only thing found while searching for her was her mathematical set.”

The Divisional Police Officer in Ikare Akoko, Mr Olatujoye Akinwande, who confirmed the incident, said the school principal, Mrs Ajoke Asiwaju, reported the matter at the police station.
