Kidnappers demand N40m for abducted Ondo farmers
The three farmers who are indigenes of Ikaram Akoko in Ondo State were abducted by gunmen at Ayere, Kogi State while on their way to attend a social function in a neighbouring town.
A family member of one of the victims said negotiations have commenced with the kidnappers with a view to reducing the ransom.
Police sources in Ondo State said the abduction occurred in Kogi State, which is not their jurisdiction.
Last week, a salesman and a driver who left Ogbagi Akoko to sell products in Okene were kidnapped along the Okene/Kabba road while returning home from their journey.
A ransom of N10 million was demanded but they were later released after some money was paid.
Akala of Ikaram, Oba Andrew Momodu, in a statement, warned people traveling along Ajowa/Ayere/Kabba and Ikaram Akunu to Ayere roads to be security conscious and avoid late hour journey on the roads.
He said criminal elements were many in the forests.
Oba Momodu called for serious collaborations between security agents, vigilantes and local hunters, in both Ondo and Kogi states, to curb incessant kidnappings.
