Ondo NUJ Warns Against ‘Fake News On Security’, Hails Akeredolu, Security Agents
COMMUNIQUE AT THE END OF THE STATE CONGRESS OF THE NIGERIA UNION OF JOURNALISTS, ONDO STATE COUNCIL, HELD ON 30TH JUNE, 2022 AT NUJ PRESS CENTRE, ALAGBAKA-AKURE
The Congress deliberated on variety of issues ranging from politics, administration, security, social, development, etc, as they affect the Nation, State and the Union. At the end of the deliberation, the following resolutions were reached;
- That that the Congress hails the emergence of Comrade Meshack Olaoluwa as the Secretary of Ondo State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).
- That the Congress notes with satisfaction the Ongoing facelift of structures at NUJ Press Centre, Alagbaka Akure; recent Medical Checkup during which about 150 members benefitted and other welfare packages, urging the new leadership under Leke Adegbite to sustain the giant strides.
- That the Congress commends the efforts of the state Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, at ensuring safety of lives and property of the citizens and enjoins him not to relent in strengthening various security agencies to protect the state from external criminals.
- That the Congress observes with serious concern over the recent high rate of using social media to spread FAKE SECURITY INFORMATION to create fear among residents in Ondo State, advising the public to avail Security agents necessary tips rather than using such fake news to create panic among the people.
- That the Congress also lauds proactive responses of the Southwest Security Network, codenamed AMOTEKUN CORPS and other security agencies to recent security threat in the state and urged everyone to sustain their support for Amotekun Corps to achieve set goals.
