AKURE – Hundreds of alumni of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) are heading to Dallas, Texas, the USA, this weekend in what promises to be the largest ever single gathering of alumni of any Nigerian university.

According to the organizers, about 720 old students of FUTA are expected at year’s grand reunion.

After three virtual reunions and annual alumni get-together in 2020 and 2021, alumni of FUTA from across the world will gather in Dallas to celebrate the first in-person Reunion since 2018 this Weekend between 28 and 31 of July 2022.

The organizers and hosts, FUTA North America (FUTANA) Alumni, plan to pull off one of the most elaborate and elegant reunions ever.

FUTANA plans to bring back some cherished traditions and new activities for alumni and families to enjoy this weekend.

The events lined up for the weekend include: tour of Dallaa, Amala Joint, Gbedu Night, Sunset Boat Cruise, Soccer and Zumba, Axe Throwing, Gun Range, Texas BBQ, Awards & Gala Dinner.

Like they always say, ‘everything is Bigger and Better in Texas!’. This reunion is shaping up to be as big as Texas’ iconic reputation.

In a statement by Bunmi Oladunjoye, President of FUTA North America Alumni and Ubong Assam Edohoukwa, Chief Host of Reunion Dallas 2022, and made available to newsmen, the duo affirmed that “the FUTA North America alumni organization has made significant contributions to the development of the University, including providing food palliatives to support over 1,000 individuals and families during the Covid-19 lockdown in 2020 and the donation of a N20,000,000 FUTANA Innovation Laboratory to the University in February 2022.

“The North American Alumni group strongly supports the university in Nigeria. This celebration is befitting for all members.”
