Chioma Onyekwere made history as the first Nigerian to win gold medal in the discuss event at the Commonwealth Games.
Onyekwere threw a season best 61.70m to claim first place ahead of other competitors in the women’s discuss event.
Her compatriot, Amaechi won the bronze medal in the event with a throw of 56.99m.
England’s Jade Jally won the silver medal in the event.
In weightlifting, Osijo Mary won a bronze medal in the women’s 87KG event.
Mary lifted a total 236 KG to finish in third place.
