ASUU strike: Nigerians have no good reason to be disappointed – FG

The Federal Government has said there is no good reason for Nigerians to be disappointed over its efforts to return the university lecturers back to class.

The Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu made the remark on Wednesday when he appeared on Channels Television’s Politics Today.

The Minister insisted that the government had done its best for the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) since the strike commenced in February this year.

According to him, the union was expected to shift ground for the benefits of the students and the entire country, saying no demand can be met hundred percent.

He said, “If Nigerians are disappointed, I think they don’t have very good reasons to be disappointed with the government on this,” he said.

“Why should they be disappointed? Just tell me in your opinion, how is it the fault of the government and not that of the union?

“You can only blame the Federal Government if it refuses to do what it is supposed to do — make the offer to satisfy their demands. There is no demand that can be satisfied 100 percent by any government,” he said.
