Amotekun raids criminals’ hideout in Ekiti, arrests 19
The Ekiti State command of the Western Nigeria Security Network codenamed Amotekun has arrested 19 suspects for various crimes in the state.
The News Agency of Nigeria reported that the Amotekun commandant in the state, Brig.- Gen. Joe Komolafe (retd), disclosed this while addressing journalists in Ado-Ekiti, on Thursday.
Komolafe said the suspects were arrested during a raid on flashpoints in Ado Ekiti which included Atikankan, Oke-Ila and Okeyimi.
He disclosed that 13 of the suspects were arrested in Atikankan area of Ado-Ekiti for burgling, while the remaining six were apprehended at Oke Ila and Oke Iyimi for offence of swindling innocent residents.
Komolafe explained that the suspected burglars were those terrorising some communities in the state, while the swindlers specialised in defrauding innocent residents.
The commandant noted that after necessary investigation, the suspects would be handed over to police for prosecution.
He promised that officers of Amotekun would continue to work hard to reduce crime in the state.
Komolafe also used the opportunity to call for useful information from members of the public regarding the hideout of criminals.
He listed some items recovered from the suspects to include generators, iron rods, water pumping machine among others.
