President Bola Tinubu has ordered the Ondo State House of Assembly to relinquish power to Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, who will take on the role of Acting Governor, upon immediate command.
This comes as a strategic move by President Bola Tinubu to address the governance crisis situation in Ondo includes this directive, which signals a swift political transition.
In the meeting held at Aso Villa in Abuja on Monday, President Tinubu queried the Speaker on why the House of Assembly refused to transmit power to the Deputy Governor, However the Speaker claimed not to have gotten a clear message on the directive.
The President however directed that power should be transmitted without any condition attached and as a “Doctrine of Necessity” while Ailing Governor Akeredolu can proceed on Medical Leave.
The President’s Order was unanimously adopted by Babajide Akeredolu, Oladunni Odu, the Speaker, the Majority Leader, Hon. Gbegudu, Jimoh Ibrahim, Ade Adetimehin, and Niyi Adegbonmire.
However, Adegbonmire, Jimoh Ibrahim, and Babajide appealed to the President to allow the Assembly to transmit Power by letter as against ‘Doctrine of Necessity’.
The President however queried Babajide Akeredolu about who will sign the letter of Transition. He claimed he’ll fly down to Lagos to get the letter.
The President had seriously frowned at Babajide for involving himself in “digital signature” as he claimed. And he gave him last warning on that however reluctantly agreed.
