BREAKING: Lamido Sanusi reinstated as Emir of Kano
Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf announced today that Sanusi Lamido Sanusi II has been reinstated as the Emir of Kano.
According to Leadership Newspaper, this comes after the Kano State House of Assembly passed a resolution to dethrone the current Emir and dismantle the four new Emirates established in 2019.
Sanusi II was deposed as the Emir of Kano in 2020.
The announcement was made at the Art Chamber of the Kano State Government House around Thursday after signing the Kano State Emirate Council (Repeal) Bill 2024 into law.
Sanusi II is expected to return to Kano on Friday .
Sanusi II was the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria and the Chief Risk Officer and Group CEO of First Bank of Nigeria Plc before ascending to the throne in June 2014.
