Landmarking the political terrain of Ondo State for posterity, a one year experience of Assembly Speaker, Oladiji
Precisely one year ago, June 3, 2023, the tenth Ondo State House of Assembly came alive following its inauguration amidst pomp and pageantry with an illustrious son of Ondo kingdom, Chief Oladiji Olamide Adesanmi, Landmark, elected as Speaker, to champion the affairs of the Assembly.
Chief Oladij, a successful entrepreneur and industrialist, has thus in the last one year brought his influence to bear in all ramifications, affecting and influencing lives for better.
His giant strides cut across various fields of human endeavour, including politics, education, social, among others.
Politically, Chief Oladiji has registered his name in gold. As the Right Honourable Speaker, Chief Oladiji led other Honourable members in passing the historic bill for the creation of thirty-three Local Community Development Areas to complement the existing eighteen Local Government Areas in Ondo State. This development will further enhance grassroots development across the state.
As an illustrious son of Ondo Kingdom, Chief Oladiji has done a lot to influence development into the entire Kingdom. For instance, Chief Oladiji, using his influence as Speaker, was able to facilitate inclusion of Bolorunduro to Kolawole, Italurowo to Ayeyemi road projects into this year’s budget of Ondo State government.
As part of his commitment to the development of Ondo Kingdom and the people, Chief Oladiji has designed a scheme to help the youth and the needy. For instance, several aged people and market women amid other needy people in Ondo Kingdom have been empowered by the right Honourable Speaker.
Also as part of his empowerment programme for the teeming youth in Ondo Kingdom, Right Honourable Oladiji has facilitated employment of Ondo sons and daughters into the state board of Internal revenue. He has also facilitated employment of Ondo sons and daughters into the Ondo State civil service.
Chief Oladiji believes in education as a tool for all round development. To this end, several Ondo sons and daughters in Ondo Kingdom have benefitted from his education scheme. Several brilliant but indigent students of Ondo Kingdom are currently on scholarship in various educational institutions across the country.
In a bid to facilitate easy access to higher institutions, Chief Oladiji has at various times organised free coaching programme for students across all cadres. Besides this, he has facilitated admission for students into Law school and medical school among others.
No wonder, in realisation of his development efforts, the Right Honourable Speaker was awarded with the chieftaincy title of Bamoye of Ondo Kingdom.
As a matter of of fact, the Bamoye of Ondo Kingdom is a major factor in the reigning peace in Ondo State and indeed Ondo Kingdom.
Bamoye believes in absolute loyalty in his chosen political career. He demonstrated absolute loyalty to the late governor Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu and he is equally extending same gesture to the incumbent, Honourable Lucky Orimisan Ayedatiwa.
Several executive bills were passed into law by the House of Assembly as part of collaborative efforts to enhance prompt delivery of democracy dividends to the people of Ondo State.
This must have been responsible for the sustenance of the current structure in the governance of Ondo State
Administratively, Chief Oladiji has raised the standard in the Ondo State House of Assembly and the staff are better for it.
Among his peers in the Ondo State House of Assembly, Chief Oladiji has remained a celebrated factor such that has never been in the annals of the Assembly.
While thanking His Excellency the President, Ahmed Bola Tinubu, the Governor Honourable Lucky Orimisan Ayedatiwa, his Honourable colleagues in the House of Assembly, the Clerk and staff of the Assembly for their support, Chief Oladiji is hopeful that upcoming years would usher in more democracy dividends to the people.
As the year runs by, it is expected that Right Honourable Chief Oladiji Olamide Adesanmi, Landmark, would not renege on his promises, doing good in his services to humanity.
