Allegation of killing by troops mischievous, false, campaign of calumny — Army
The Nigerian Army has reacted to the allegation levelled against its troops by Simon Ekpa, the self-acclaimed leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, describing it as false, mischievous and campaign of calumny
Ekpa had alleged that troops of the Nigerian Army were carrying out mass killing of Igbos at a river and dumping the bodies in water in the Southeast region.
Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, the Director of Army Public Relations disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday, adding that the report by Ekpa was targeted at inciting people against the troops.
According to Nwachukwu, following a thorough investigation, the army categorically refuted the claims, describing them as baseless.
He said: “Contrary to the falsehood being spread from the devious propaganda machinery of the desperate and self-serving terrorists’ leader, the NA wishes to state that it has conducted a comprehensive investigation on the allegations made by Simon Ekpa and his associates.
