A 32-year-old son of a police officer identified as Francis Danjuma, allegedly drowned in the Ogun River.

According to Punch, Danjuma, who resided in the Isheri Olofin community, was said to have left his house around 2:00 p.m. on June 12, 2024, to bathe in the river.

The incident was reported by his father, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Danjuma Shaibu, who lives at the Alausa Police Barracks in Lagos State.

Shaibu reported that on June 12, 2024, around 2:00 pm, his son left their home to bathe in the nearby Ogun River, where he reportedly drowned.

It was gathered that despite extensive efforts by family members and local divers to find the victim, Danjuma’s body had yet to be recovered.

The spokesperson for the state command, SP Omolola Odutola, who confirmed the incident to the publication on Thursday, June 13, said police operatives at the Ojodu-Abiodun had begun an investigation to unravel the circumstances behind the incident and recovered the body.

“Upon receiving the tragic news, detectives from the Ojodu-Abiodun division visited the scene and coordinated with local divers and the Olofin Council to search for the body,” she said.

“Efforts to locate the body are ongoing. We are also working to uncover the details leading to this unfortunate incident.” see
