LG chair’s kidnapped aides regain freedom
The three aides of the caretaker chairman of Kabba Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State, Zacchaeus Dare, kidnapped two weeks ago, have regained their freedom.
The council chairman, alongside his aides and two students of Kogi State University, Kabba were kidnapped on the Okene/Kabba road.
The chairman, however, escaped after a few hours, as he was abandoned by the kidnappers when he could no longer walk at their pace.
The three kidnapped aides were released alongside four others held in captivity for the last 12 days.
Speaking with our correspondent, Dare appreciated God and thanked the Kogi State Governor, Usman Ododo, for his prompt action.
“I sincerely praise the men of the Nigerian Army, Police, DSS, professional and local hunters for their courage and bravery that led to the rescue.
“I also appreciate the good people of Kabba Bunu LGA and across the state who were in prayers that led to the successful release of those abducted,” he said.
He said his aides and other kidnapped persons were found along the Oyo mining site at Obajana, tasking the security agencies to continue to comb the forest along the area for more discoveries
