APC chieftain commends Tunji-Ojo for Correctional Service Reforms

Comrade Darlington Nwauju, a prominent All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, has praised Minister of Interior Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo for introducing bold policy reforms to the ministry, particularly in transforming the country’s correctional services and improving inmate welfare.

Nwauju, also the Publicity Secretary of the APC in Rivers State, highlighted the minister’s achievements, including increasing the daily feeding allocation for inmates from ₦750 to ₦1,125 and upscaling welfare provisions in correctional centers nationwide.

He commended Tunji-Ojo’s courage and commitment to driving tangible reforms, addressing long-standing issues such as inadequate welfare allocation, which had led to poor health conditions and hindered inmate reform.

Nwauju also praised the ministry’s success in enrolling the Nigerian passport into the International Civil Aviation Organization’s (ICAO) Public Key Infrastructure and Public Key Directory, enhancing ease of passage for Nigerian citizens and upgrading the global ranking of the international passport.

He noted that the minister’s efforts have reduced tensions in correctional centers and transformed them into true reformatories, rather than punishment centers. Nwauju emphasized that Tunji-Ojo’s reforms demonstrate a commitment to improving the lives of those in correctional centers.
