On Tuesday, Federal High Court judges will return to the courtrooms following the end of their annual vacation. The annual vacation began on July 23 and was expected to end on September 13.

Although normal court sitting was to resume Monday, due to the public holiday declared by the federal government to celebrate Eid-ul-Maulud, court activities will kick off officially on Tuesday.

The FHC spokeswoman, Catherine Oby-Christopher, had, on July 11 in a statement, said the FHC chief judge, Justice John Tsoho, had announced the commencement of the court’s annual vacation.

“By virtue of the provisions of Order 46, Rule 4 (d) of the Federal High Court (Civil Procedure) Rules 2019, the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court of Nigeria, Justice John Tsoho, announces its 2024 annual vacation and roster for vacation judges.

“The vacation will commence from July 23 to September 13,  2024. Normal court sitting will resume on 16th September, 2024. This is in order for judges to enjoy their well-deserved rest and to prepare for the tasks and activities of the new legal year,” the statement said.

The statement advised the litigating public to approach the Abuja, Lagos and Port Harcourt divisions of the court for matters of extreme urgency during the period.

Justice Emeka Nwite and Justice Peter Lifu were appointed vacation judges for the Abuja division. Justice Akintayo Aluko and Justice Isaac Dipeolu were appointed vacation judges for the Lagos division. Justice A. T. Mohammed and Justice P. M. Ayua were appointed vacation judges for the Port Harcourt division.
