As schools across Ondo State resume for a new academic session, Mr. John Adeniyi Oluyide, Principal of St. Michael’s Catholic High School, Akure, has reaffirmed his commitment to advancing education. He emphasized the school’s readiness for a successful year, with comprehensive plans in place to ensure smooth operations.

Mr. Oluyide, leading by example, personally managed operations at the school gate, overseeing the smooth start of the session. This hands-on approach, he said, underscores the importance of active leadership in setting standards for staff and students.

In an interview with journalists, Mr. Oluyide detailed his dedication to fostering a positive learning environment. He confirmed that admissions into Junior Secondary School (JSS) 1 are still ongoing, with preparations for the upcoming “Walk-In” ceremony, which will officially welcome new students to the St. Michael’s community.

Proud of the school’s achievements, Mr. Oluyide highlighted the students’ academic excellence, attributing it to the supportive environment fostered by the school’s management. He also revealed that beyond academics, the school is committed to holistic development through extracurricular activities, such as the upcoming inter-house sports competition.

Looking ahead, Mr. Oluyide announced plans to incorporate entrepreneurial training, robotics, and information and communication technology (ICT) into the curriculum. These initiatives aim to equip students with practical skills and prepare them for the modern world. He also urged parents to take an active role in their children’s education, emphasizing the importance of preparation for the future.

Expressing gratitude to the government, Mr. Oluyide acknowledged the support provided for school operations, particularly regarding the welfare of corps members and Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) staff.

Meanwhile, Mrs. J.T. Abiodun-Olaimolu, Principal of Ijo-Mimo Oluwa High School, Akure, has also reaffirmed her commitment to enhancing the quality of education at her school as the new academic session begins.

During a media briefing, Mrs. Abiodun-Olaimolu outlined her vision for the new academic year, stressing the importance of high academic standards alongside the holistic development of students. She noted that admissions into JSS 1 are still open, with around 200 new students expected to join. Confident in the school’s ability to nurture these students, she highlighted the disciplined nature of the students as a key factor in their academic success.

In addition to academics, Mrs. Abiodun-Olaimolu revealed plans for various extracurricular activities, including the annual Inter-House Sports competition and a Christmas Carol event, both designed to foster school spirit and community engagement.

She also encouraged parents to take a more active role in their children’s education, emphasizing that strong parent-school collaboration is essential for student success. “The foundation we lay today will determine their future achievements,” she said.

Both Mr. Oluyide and Mrs. Abiodun-Olaimolu’s leadership sets a promising tone for the new school year, ensuring a blend of academic rigor and extracurricular engagement for well-rounded student development.
