Former Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, has denied any involvement in fraudulent activities following his recent questioning by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

In a statement released by his media aide, Olisa Ifeajika, Okowa maintained that the EFCC had found no evidence of misconduct against him.

Responding to allegations of diverting N1.3 trillion from oil derivation funds, Okowa dismissed the claims as “ridiculous” and “baseless.”

He explained that he voluntarily visited the EFCC office in Port Harcourt to address the petitions filed by what he termed “disgruntled individuals.”

“There is no case established against Dr. Okowa by the EFCC,” the statement read, adding that the accusations stem from “malicious, unfounded claims” driven by individuals with “biased and short-sighted” agendas.

Okowa noted that similar allegations had surfaced during his governorship.

The former governor also denied reports of misusing state funds, including accusations of acquiring an 80% stake in Premium Trust Bank and diverting funds for housing projects in Asaba and Abuja, as well as two hotel properties.

Okowa reiterated his commitment to transparency and defended his record of integrity while in office.

Despite the ongoing EFCC investigation, Okowa asserted that he remains open and willing to cooperate, confident that he will be cleared of all accusations.
