A-32-year-old man, Onyiuke Nwedeogu has allegedly set himself ablaze after a misunderstanding with his wife in Ndiechi Igbeagu, Izzi Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

It was learned that the couple had a conflict last Sunday morning when Onyiuke had a quarrel with his wife, Felicia Nwedeogu which led to the beating of the woman.

A source said shortly after Onyiuke gathered his clothing, took them to the family’s provision shop, and set himself and the house on fire. He was said to have died later in a Hospital from the fire injuries.
It was learned that the quarrel had gone on for long, prompting him to have taken the matter to their parents’ but efforts by the parents to resolve the matter proved abortive.

Before setting himself ablaze, Onyiuke had removed the window protectors of the house where his wife and three daughters were sleeping and set the building on fire with fuel. However they were lucky to be rescued by neighbours.

Thinking that he had succeeded in his evil plots, Onyiuke reportedly drove away in his bus to shop where he set himself ablaze.

He was later taken to the Alex Ekwueme Federal Teaching Hospital (AE-FETHA) where he died on Wednesday due to injuries sustained by fire burnt, and his remains have been deposited at the hospital morgue.
The Ebonyi State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Joshua Ukandu when contacted said the command had not received formal report on the incident.
