Adetokunbo Abiru (Lagos-East) appealed to Ikorodu residents on Sunday to provide useful information to tackle insecurity in the area.
Mr Abiru made the appeal during the 50th birthday and book launch of Akinyemi Adepeju, founder of Ikorodu Oga Radio, at Oriwu Club Hall in Ikorodu, Lagos.
Mr Abiru called on all stakeholders in the division to collaborate and tackle insecurity as a nation, state or local government.
“Leaders in Ikorodu have been doing a lot in galvanising stakeholders to put measures in place to reduce the crime rate across Ikorodu.
“This idea has led to the establishment of different local security outfits to complement the efforts of the statutory security agencies.
“Traditional leaders and my office have sensitised residents on providing useful information to enhance the safety of lives and communities across the division,” he said.
Mr Abiru commended the author for distinguishing himself as a journalism professional, advising him to consolidate his successes.
Similarly, Wasiu Adesina, the chairman of Ikorodu LGA, reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to prioritising the security of lives and properties in the community.
Mr Adesina said his administration had improved security architecture in the area through the set-up of a joint task force to complement the effort of the police.
He said Mr Akinyemi had played a significant role in disseminating developmental projects and placing Ikorodu on the global map through his radio station.
